1. THOMAS¹ BASTIN was born Abt. 1745 in Pittsylvania Co, VA, and died January 1817 in Caswell Co NC. He married HANNAH BROCKMAN 1770 in VA, daughter of WILLIAM BROCKMAN and ELIZABETH MASON. She was born Abt. 1749 in Orange CO VA, and died October 1834 in Caswell Co NC.

Thomas Bastin Sr and his wife Hannah BROCKMAN Bastin. They lived in Caswell County, NC from the 1770's until their deaths. Hannah Bastin was probably born in, or around, Albemarle, or Orange County, VA. Thomas is believed to have been born in Pittsylvania Co, VA by some researchers, but there is some evidence that points to Albemarle County as well as to possible earlier ancestors in Essex County, VA.

Thomas was born ABT 1745 and died intestate in Jan 1817. Hannah was born ABT 1749 and died in October 1834, 17 years after Thomas.

Thomas Bastin was associated with both the Lick Fork & Country Line

Primitive Baptist Churches, both of which were closely tied with the

Primitive Baptist Churches a few miles away in Pittsylvania Co VA. No

marriages were officially recorded by the state of Virginia for Baptists

until long after the presumed and estimated 1770 marriage date for Thomas

Bastin and Hannah Brockman. The Baptist religion was a radical and new

religion in Virginia at that time, and recognition did not occur until

later.

Thomas and Hannah Bastin owned a farm in the far NW corner of Caswell County, NC, northwest of modern-day Pelham, NC. (On the map, this is just north of the mileage indicator of 22 in far NW Caswell County.) Thomas first bought land on Wolf Island Creek in 1769, and subsequently purchased more land, on Little Wolf Island Creek, over time. This area is located just a few miles over the state line SW from Danville, VA. Little Wolf Island Creek flowed through the farm, dividing it, according to the deed description. John Brockman's farm adjoined this farm. The farm may also have included land in Rockingham County, since the county line between Rockingham and Caswell County runs just West of Little Wolf Island Creek. This 1834 map shows Wolf Id. C. (Wolf Island Creek), and shows that Thomas' farm was somewhat remote, but still was not far from the main road from Danville, VA to Wentworth, Rockingham Co, NC.

The BASTIAN surname in the US is comprised of

descendants of the BASTIAN family of Pennsylvania,

and subsequently, of NC. They were German.

The BASTIN family in the US is believed to be English,

first arriving in Virginia around 1675, with

later generations migrating to Caswell County, NC, and

subsequently, to KY. From there, migration to

IN, OH, MO, and TN occurred in the mid to late

1800's.

Candidates for Thomas Bastin's father include Charles Bastin, and,

possibly, Nicholas Bastin/Eastin. Charles shows up in the earliest

Caswell Co, NC census records; Nicholas shows up in the early Albemarle

Co, VA records. Thomas is also possibly descended from William

Bastin/Bastyn, mentioned in Essex Co, VA records from before 1700 until

about 1744.

possibilities for Thomas Bastin's birthplace are Albemarle, Orange,

and Essex Counties, VA, although most researchers claim Pittsylvania Co as

most likely being his birthplace.

Notes for JOHN B. BASTIN:

John Bastin was a brother to both Thomas Bastin, Jr. and William Bastin. He is believed to have accompanied Thomas Bastin, Jr in the move from Caswell County to east Barren County, based on stories handed down in the family of Thomas Bastin, Jr.

John's first wife has not been identified, but is thought to have been Pricilla Baldwin, or, possibly, Henrietta Ford. John is also believed to have moved to Pulaski County, KY somewhat earlier than 1830, but to have gone back to Caswell County to assist Thomas Bastin, Jr. and his family in their joint 1830 move westward to east Barren County, KY.

John first wife died, and John re-married. He married his second wife, Margaret Keath, in Edmonson County, KY on 05 July 1837. (The marriage bond lists no witnesses; only a clerk.) Margaret was forty years younger than John, and John raised a second family with her. In 1840, John and Thomas Bastin Jr both appear on the US Census for east Barren County, KY. (They had arrived there in December 1830, just missing the 1830 Census for that area!) The 1840 Census is the only census in that area on which John appears, for he moved north to Indiana in the early 1840's.

Family stories handed down through the family of Thomas Bastin, Jr. claim that the brother who assisted Thomas Bastin, Jr. in the trek over the mountains moved North to Indiana, or Illinois. This seems to fit, for John and his wife Margaret subsequently appear on US Census records in Monroe County, Indiana after their move northward in the early 1840's.

Incidentally, Edmonson County, which is where the marriage record of John's marriage to Margaret Keath is recorded, is the county in the NW quadrant of the previous map, and is the county in which most of Mammoth Cave is located.

In further confirmation that the John in Monroe County, IN is the same John Bastin, additional clues exist. John's young wife was born in Kentucky, and he was born in North Carolina. The John in Monroe County, IN was born in NC, and his (much) younger wife was born in KY, fitting the known birth locations. Also, John had a son named Hiram H. Bastin. Hiram evidently moved from Adair County, KY (the western portion of which is now part of Metcalfe County, KY) to Indiana somewhat later than when his father, John, moved. John's grandson, John E. Bastin, a son of Hiram H. Bastin, was born in Adair County, KY in 1839 from National Archive records. (John E. Bastin served in the Federal Army from Indiana, married a Cirgin in Morgan County, IN in 1866, and died in 1892.) Since the area where the BASTIN Family settled in KY in 1830 was around the tri-county border of then Barren, Green, and Adair counties, from which Metcalfe County, KY was formed in 1860, and this is the same location where John and Margaret Bastin -- and Hiram Bastin and his family -- all lived, in close proximity to the families of Thomas Bastin, Jr. and his children, and their descendants, all the pieces fall in place. From these clues, it is obvious that this must be the same John Bastin as the son of Thomas and Hannah Brockman Bastin!

William and his wife, Deborah Cook Bastin, migrated from Caswell County to Pulaski County, KY. It was here that William died at about age 40 as the result of an accident as he was clearing land. A tree fell on him and he was killed. This happened before the estate of his father, Thomas Bastin (Sr.) was settled. Thomas died in Jan 1817, so William evidently died in 1817. To the best of my knowledge, no one since about 1900 has known where William's grave is located. The accident was probably NW of modern day Somerset, KY, about midway between Somerset and Caseyville. The exact location is unknown, but I believe it to have been in the general area near Eubank, KY. The following map from 1834 shows this area of Kentucky.

Thomas Bastin, Jr., a son of Thomas and Hannah Bastin, and a brother to the William who died in Pulaski County, KY, migrated to Kentucky from Caswell County with his wife, Mary W. (Atwell) Bastin, along with their young children, and with their older married children and their families. They are listed in east Barren County for the 1840 US Census, living very close to the tri-county boundary of Barren, Green, and Adair County, KY. The date that this migration from NC to KY took place is about 1830, with their arrival in Kentucky traditionally given as 24 Dec 1830. The eastern part of Barren County became Metcalfe County in 1860, as did part of western Adair County, as the result of a dispute over where a railroad would be built. Thomas Bastin, Jr. died in 1858, and is buried in Metcalfe County, KY at a well-kept cemetary on the Metcalfe and Green county line border.

Mary W. Atwell was born 17 Nov 1780 in Maryland, and evidently migrated with her family to Caswell County, NC. She married Thomas Bastin, Jr. there, and they migrated, along with their children (and their families) to (then) east Barren County, KY in about 1830. Mary died 26 Jan 1852, and was buried at a cemetary on what is now the Metcalfe and Green County line. (Metcalfe County was formed from parts of E Barren, W Adair, and SW Green counties in 1860.) When her husband, Thomas Jr. died, he was buried beside her, in the same cemetary.

Thomas F. died about 1 year after his marriage with the breast complaint, and

that they had one child a daughter named Mary. Susannah and daughter were living

in house with her Father William C. Bastin in 1860 Lincoln Co. Ky. The old

letter stated that Susanna and her husband were 3rd cousins.----Therefore William and

John were Brothers----then William C. and Thomas who wed Judith were 1st

cousins and Thomas who wed susanna were 3rd cousins.

Ky.--Susanna was daughter of William C. Bastin. From the old letters we learn that

Thomas F. died about 1 year after his marriage with the breast complaint, and

that they had one child a daughter named Mary. Susannah and daughter were living

in house with her Father William C. Bastin in 1860 Lincoln Co. Ky. The old

letter stated that Susanna and her husband were 3rd cousins.----Therefore William and

John were Brothers----then William C. and Thomas who wed Judith were 1st

cousins and Thomas who wed susanna were 3rd cousins.

Thomas 'Tommie' Bastin, III (07 Apr 1818 - 22 May 1889)

Thomas 'Tommie' Bastin (son of Thomas Bastin, Jr. and Mary W. (ATWELL) Bastin, grandson of Thomas and Hannah Bastin of Caswell County, NC) was born 07 Apr 1818 in Caswell County, NC. At about the age of 12, he and his parents migrated from Caswell County, NC to (then) eastern Barren County, KY. He married Louanna Shofner . The portion of Barren County where they lived was carved off to form Metcalfe County in 1860. Tommie died there, in Metcalfe County, KY, on 22 May 1889. he lost his left arm in September 1864. Tommie

Bastin lost an arm during The War Between the States on the

day Atlanta fell, while in combat just south of Atlanta. His arm was said

to have been shot off by a canon shell

Tommie Bastin's son, William M. Bastin, also served in the Federal Army, and was injured during the War. Details are only now being found on his war records, and more information should be available from the National Archives soon. William M. Bastin also lived in Metcalfe County, KY. William's son, James Thomas 'Tom' Bastin moved to near Seymour, KY in Hart County, KY, where he ran a grain-mill that ground corn into corn meal and wheat into flour. His son, James Cordis Bastin, who married Ilene Dawson Waddell, also worked in the mill and lived at Seymour, KY when his children were born, including my father, James Glen Bastin.

One day Eliza Baugh Terry went to New Albany In. to visit her datughter Mollie E. Cummins. While waiting for a street car, in very cold weather, A day or two lather she caught pneumonia and died. On her death bed she said don't the sun shine BRIGHT! Then passed to her rewards. This was on Nov. 8-1899.

Obituary: Former U.S. Sen. John Sherman Cooper, the most popular and

respected Kentucky

Republican of the post-World War II era, died Thursday in Washington. He was

89.

Cooper died "naturally and quietly in his sleep" at 4:30 p.m., said his

physician, Dr. Jerry M. Earll.

was not ill and essentially died of old age.

Cooper, a veteran of World War II, will be buried next to his wife,

Lorraine, in Arlington National

Former President Gerald Ford praised Cooper yesterday, saying through an

aide that he "was one of America's outstanding legislators and diplomats in

the post-World War II period."

Cooper, who served as U.S. ambassador to India and East Germany, served 20

years in the Senate, where he established himself as one of its most

influential members, especially on foreign affairs.

Soft-spoken and gentle, reflective and sometimes given to mumbling, Cooper

was not a great orator. Colleagues said his persuasive powers stemmed from

his reputation for integrity and sound

judgment.

During most of his Senate career, Cooper was teamed with two other Kentucky

Republican senators

-- Thruston B. Morton and Marlow W. Cook, both of Louisville. It was an era

of unusual political

strength for Kentucky Republicans. They carried Kentucky in four of five

presidential races, won

six consecutive races for the Senate and held the governor's chair for four

years under Louie Nunn.

Although Kentucky is heavily Democratic state, Cooper proved to be one of

the state's most

popular political figures.

from Harvard Law School in 1925. After a term in the Kentucky House of

Representatives and two terms as Pulaski County judge, Cooper ran for

governor in 1939 but was defeated in the GOP primary by King Swope, who had

been the party's nominee in 1935.

World War II interrupted Cooper's political career. He enlisted as an army

private in 1942 and was

commissioned a second lieutenant in 1943. He rode with Gen. George Patton's

Third Army, seeing

action in five campaigns and winning the Bronze Star.

Discharged a captain in February 1946, Cooper returned to Pulaski County,

where he was elected

circuit judge. Later that year he won a special election to the Senate to

fill out the term of Democrat

A. B. "Happy" Chandler, who had resigned to become baseball commissioner.

Early struggles

Cooper's Democratic opponent in the 1946 election was John Y. Brown Sr.,

whom he defeated by

just over 40,000 votes. But Cooper, who faced a decade- long struggle to

establish himself in state

politics, was unable to hold the seat. In the race for a full term in 1948,

he lost to Democrat Virgil

She died Wednesday at Stanford House Nursing Home.

Born June 8, 1914, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Newland D. and Nannie Taylor Butt. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Methodist Church and Stanford Eastern Star. She was the widow of William Daley Reed.

Survivors include two sons, Shelby N. Reed and William P. Reed, both of Stanford; a daughter, JoAnn Davis of Waynesburg; two sisters, Betty Austin and Violet James, both of Somerset; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Genevieve Reed.

Pallbearers will be Davis, Shelby Reed II, Duane Cox, Doug and Alan May, Dennis, Chad and Kyle Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are Gene Reed, Cecil Witt, Roy McGuffey, Fonzo McGuffey and Danny Ford.

REED, William Daley, died Saturday May 6, 1989 at the age of 77. The death was ruled a suicide by Scott Ernst, deputy corner. Born on Nov. 8, 1911 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late William Shelby and Cynthia Warfield Reed. He was retired from the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service after 26 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Butt Reed; two sons, Shelby Newland Reed and William Paul Reed, both of Stanford; one daughter JoAnn Reed Davis of Waynesburg; four brothers Cecil, Walter and Charles (Sharp), all of Stanford, and Waldo Reed of Murfreesboro, TN.; two sisters, Christine Reed Cardwell and Shirley Reed Ward, both of Louisville; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Fox Funeral Home by Rev. Elmore Ray and Rev. Mark Clifton. Burial was at Highland Methodist Church Cemetery. Masonic services were observed Sunday evening. CRAB ORCHARD - Charles H. ``Sharp'' Reed, 75, of Waynesburg, died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 1, 1923, in Highland, he was a son of the late Shelby and Cynthia Warfield Reed. He was a farmer and a member of Mount Moriah Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Susan K. McGuffey Reed; a daughter, Amy Reed Smith of Campbellsville; a son, Charles D. Reed of Ottenheim; two sisters; Christine Cardwell and Shirley Ward, both of Louisville; and two brothers, Walter Reed of Highland and Waldo Reed of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Moriah Christian Church Cemetery by Rob Cox and Dennis Spencer. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Notes for JAMES THOMAS 'TOM' BASTIN:

During the depression, the mill failed. James Thomas 'Tom' Bastin then became a full-time farmer. His oldest son, Cecil, had died in WW I in France of influenza on Oct 31, 1918, leaving no children. (Cecil's wife, incidentally, re-married, marrying Cecil's cousin, Garnett Bastin!) With his two remaining sons, James Thomas Bastin ran a fairly large farm located between Bear Wallow and Hiseville, KY, in Barren County, KY. Upon his death, the farm was split among his heirs. His daughter, Lois, had already died, and her share went to her son, Bill Lock. The other daughter, Iva ('Ivey'), also received a share. The other two shares went to James Cordis 'Cordie' Bastin and Bella 'Beeler' Bastin. However, neither Bill Lock nor Iva Barton wanted to keep their shares, and Bella only wanted to farm one share. So, 'Cordie' bought out the shares belonging to both Bill Lock and Iva Barton, ending up with three shares total. Bella kept the one share that he had inherited. So, Bella owned 1/4 of the original land on the south side of the lane which split the farm, and Cordie owned the remaining 3/4 of the original land on the North side of the lane.

When the road was paved and named, it was named Bessie Bastin Road, after Bella's wife, Bessie

Charlie use to play a fiddle and a french harp and do a dance, to entertain the kids or to great you when you came in or say good by when you left. From: DENVER BAUGH Genealogy #2 Book. Uncle Charley Terry owned his saw mill . It was at the headwaters of Green River. When Wm H. Terry 2nd. would visit his brother Charley, It would please Charley so much he would throw his hat in air and quote the piece about -- Old Joe Clift and Aunt Putty Collier had a Suger Camp way up in the holler. I remember him because of only one visit to his home. It was a sunday when mom asked us kids if we would like to visit uncle Charley and aunt Sarah? Since we never got out much, she got a loud affirmative reply on the beautiful day in mid --- 1930's. Since we had no car, we would have to walk around three miles to get there from our place on Greasy Ridge. The oldest kids would carry the youngest. We struck out northeast around Greasy Ridge Road turned left onto Horse Ridge Road, took it to the end-- then over a fence and down thru a pasture field (Good thing there was no mean bull in that field). We heard someone coming up thru the tall horse weed and briar thicket. It was Uncle Charley and Aunt Sarah, they too were intending to visit, Charley said he didn't want to visit on Horse Ridge anyway. Aunt Sarah fried chickenin no time at all and served banana pudding to top it off. At the end of the day , he hitched up his team of horses to a wagon and brought us out onto old 27 by Mt. Moriah Church , thru Highland and on to home. A day I will never forget. I think all his children were married and away from home then. He is the only great uncle that I can remember, and all because of that one day visit on the banks of Green River. From Jr. Clarkson: Jesse "Jr." Clarkson told Ron Terry that when he was 6 years old, about (1930) his dad farmed on Charlie Terry place the head of Green River,They lived in a house called the old Winkles place.

William H. Terry 2nd One day shortly after WILLIAM HENDERSON TERR and MARGARET MAGGIE BELL were married ( they lived up in the Mill Hollow, above GREENBERRY PECKS, and on the Green River ) He was working a team of oxen, one fell in the ditch and the other fell on top of the animal. It was a hot day and he would have to fast to save the team oxen. Running up a hill to the nearest house, he found no body at home! Looking around he spotted a corn knife and rushing back he was able to chop the oxbow from the animals,allowing them to get up. They were sweating, but with out his quick work, the team would have died. He work hard in his day and for little pay. This Hollow had a sawmill and the families that worked at the mill were provided rough sawed shacks to live in.He would tell about this one time after a hard days work, he and Maggie had just retired for the night, when a strange noise started in the small attic above their heads.It sounded like someone threshing the loose, rough boards with awitches. Billy trying to be brave said, thash a little harder !! It did and to such a degree, they got up and quickly vacated the premises. They could hear it a good way down the road. Later they returned with a neighbor, crawled up and looking the place over, even the dust was not disturbed. I heard him tell this several times and Maggie would sanction it. He stopped working on sundays after that. Another time I heard him tell about him and another fellow ripping roof shingles off a house of a woman of ill repute. As they worked, bullets now and then would whistle or, slap close by. The woman did get the message and left the area. A few years later he caught typhoid fever. He was chewing gum laid it down, and Cillas Patterson (about seven years old) chewed the same gum, he too contracted the disease and died soon after. Wm H. Terry's sister Allie Crisler, came down from Walton, Ky. and his daughter, Minnie went back with them. She would write back, and tell them she had a job working with aunt Allie and to come on up. They did, ( Two of the little ones were buried there in a Baptist Cemetery ). Now it back to the headwaters of Green River, ( Niels Creek ). He would get up at four A.M., get the girls up to fix his breakfast and head for the woods. Maybe to make ax handles, buggy spokes, rail road cross ties or hickory cane splite for chair bottoms, placing them in hot boiling water. One time he worked on thr rail road. Minnie remembers helping him mould bullets, when she was a little girl.He would tell about cutting huge trees,that two men could not reach around and straight as a arrow, He would roll them into the hollow to clear new ground for planting crops. His Brother Charley would kid him by saying, Billy moves so much that his chickens are trained to lay down, cross their legs, ready to be tied and moved to the next location. Wm H. Terry 2nd was a serious minded person and didn't go much for jokes, especially when they were directed at him, for instance--One day a horseback rider came upon Billy and several others. Wm h. Terry introduced himself. The rider, trying to make conversation and being funny, asked Billy what kind of a Terrier are you? The reply he received was shot, Get off that horse and I'll show you what kind of a Terrier I am ! The rider realizing his question was not well received, He thought it was best not to dismount, and rode on down the road. W.H. Terry 2nd. daughter, Minnie and her husband John Logan Baugh, and son Ivan Foster, lived on Greasy Ridge Road ( one mile west of Hightland Lincoln Co. Ky. ). Then when John died Dec. 2, 1917, Minnie decided to take her six year old Foster to McKinney, she then could take care of John's elderly parents. She left her father W.H. Terry in charge of the 186 acre farm. W.H. Terry's major move was from Mason Gap, Ky. to Indiana. His son William H. Terry 3rd. remembers it was a cold day in Feb. 1925. Leaving Mason Gap by covered wagon, pulled by a horse name prince and a mule called Mike. ( He sent grandma and the little ones ahead by train ). A Webber wagon was purchased new for the trip. William H. Terry Sr. made the bows for the wagon that was covered with a light blue oil cloth. The covered wagow group consisted of W.H.T. , W.H.T. Jr. , Una Terry and cousin Jimmy Cook. They moved slowly north thru Paris and Cynthiana, Ky. Before they reached Sunrise, Ky. Jimmy and Una slipped off from the band with out notifying anyone. Tired of the slow progress being made on the road they caught a Taystee bread truck to Covington.This caused some consternation among Jr. And Sr. until they reached Sunrise, Ky. the following morning and was told they had gone ahead to uncle Willie Crislers home in Covington, Ky. The group was united there in Covington and crossing the Ohio river they pushed on to their destination--Johnson Fork, ( near Rockdale, Ind.). Later the family moved to a home on Kentucky Lane, in Ind. where W.H.T.3rd. met his neighbor Helen Baker. They dated for two years before their wedding on Sept. 16, 1932 The trip from Mason Gap, Ky. to Johnson Fork,Ind., took eight days. William Henderson Terry 2nd and his wife Margaret Maggie Bell, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the old Biddinger farm in 1938. That old house and barn still stands as of 1995 at the corner of New Biddinger and Lees Creek Road in Hamilton Co, Ohio ( Many new homes are being built on that farm today ). They moved from there to Mt. Carmel, Ind. Then back to Ohio in several Different places untill his death, June 15, 1966. Wm.H. Terry 2nd lived to be 102 years old.

Thursday at Mount Olive Christian Church by the Rev. Greg Powell. Burial

will be in Bethelridge Cemetery. He died Monday (26 April 1999) at Sunrise

Manor Nursing Home. Born Nov. 14, 1901, in Humphrey, he was a son of the

late Solomon and Mary Elizabeth Godbey Bastin. He was a retired farmer and a

member of Mount Olive Christian Church. He was the widower of Majora Moore

Bastin. Survivors include two daughters, Maudine Williams of Yosemite and

Sandra L. Thomas of LaGrange; a son, Quincy S. Bastin of Maryville, Tenn.;

six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dale and

Matt Latty, Janis Smith, Joel Moore, Donald Williams and Tom Godbey.

Notes for JAMES CORDIS 'CORDIE' BASTIN:

Ilene Dawson Waddell Bastin, Cordie's wife, died at home during, or right after, a major thunderstorm. Cordie lived for several years after this, farming, making frequent trips to several of the ponds on his farm to fish, or trapping rabbits with his rabbit traps! Cordie's barn was located just northwest of the fork, NW of the site of the old house. It was here that he died, while milking one morning. His grand-son, Ronnie Joe 'Ron' Bastin, found him.

Cordie's old house, just north of the fork of the road, was where Donald Ray 'Don' Bastin, a son of Cordie, lived. Don lived in Cordie's old house after Cordie built his new house. The old house was torn down in about 1970, and Don built a brick home on the same site, which is where he lived when he died. Don died in a hospital in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY.

STANFORD -- Della Hogue Terry, 98, of Kings Mountain, died Friday at Villaspring Health Care Center, Erlanger.

Born July 26, 1903, in Kings Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Nannie Gooch Hogue. She was a homemaker and a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Red" Terry, and a son, Donald Terry.

Survivors include two sons, Norman Terry of Stanford and Glen Terry of Martinsville, Ind.; four daughters, Thelma Sims of Kings Mountain, Mary Lou Williams of Stanford, Dencie Riggs of Erlanger and Susan Whalen of Davison, Mich.; two sisters, Ruby Roberts of Stanford and Mayme Peek of

Kings Mountain; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Funeral Home by John Dean.

Burial will be in K.P. Hall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday.

He was a very good basketball player, and turn down a schalorship to Eastern College. After school he went to work at I G A Store in Stanford, Ky. then moved to Cinn. Ohio and went to work at Swiss Ice Cream Co. He then moved to Indpls. In. got a job at Stark--Wetsel Co. as a Butcher, and on to Ford Co., Where he retired after 22 years. Ray, Bowled on serveral Bowling Leagues and had a gold ring for having a perfect game, and was in the300 league, while living in Indpls. In. After retiring he bought a baby farm in Freedom, In. and enjoyed life. In 1999 Ray, Dorothy, Evelyn and Ronald went out west in his motor home which he used real often after his retirement, he love to travel. In Oct or Nov of 1999 the Doctor told him that he had A.L.S. Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Sabera Yocum. He was a retired fork lift driver for Ford Motor Company. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roe Terry of Freedom, Ind.; four sons, Thomas M. Terry of Stanford, Robert Hensley of Crestview, Fla., and Curtis Hensley and Raymond Terry, Jr. both of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Retha Walls of Freedom, Ind., Diana Moffitt of Indianapolis, Ind. and Tina Glass of Poland, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service And Crematory in the Chapel of the Chimes, Indianapolis, Ind. Burial will be In Floral Park Cemetery.
